Abstract

678,550. Feeding-bottles. SEARER, H. J. Jan. 22, 1851, No. 1619/51. Class 125(i) A device acting as a closure for a feeding nipple when it is inverted in the mouth of a bottle also acts as a handling deviceso that the nipple need not be touched when being inverted and fitted for use. The device 26 comprises a body part 35 with a projection 38 having a beading 39 on one side and a handle 36 on the other. When a nipple 24 as described in Specification 641,666 is in an inverted position within a bottle 20, Fig. 1, the projection 38 is forced into the central tubular part 32 deforming it slightly and gripping it tightly. A cap 22 apertured at 23 clamps the body part 35 and nipple flange 25 on to the bottle mouth. When the cap 22 is removed, the nipple 24 is still held by the device and can be removed and forced through the aperture 23 ready for operative attachment to the bottle, Fig. 4, and the device 26 can be withdrawn without the necessity of touching the nipple. The device can also be used for removing nipples from a rack and inserting them inverted in a bottle. A number of modifications of the projection 38 are described, some for use with other types of flanged nipples. U.S.A. Specification 2,093,130 is referred to.
