Abstract
677,768. Shearing; rolling. BIGWOOD & SON, Ltd., J. March 9, 1951, No. 5703/51. Class 83 (iv). In a rolling &c. machine in which one of the side columns is movable to allow of withdrawal , of the rolls, a bed 10 has an extension 11 on which the column 21 is moved by a screw 32. The extension 11 is then swung on a pivot 41 to allow access to the rolls 45. A shaft 27 for adjusting the roll pass is broken at a coupling 28 when the column 21 is moved. The frame extension 11 is locked in its operative position by a catch, not shown. The rolls 45 may carry disc cutters for shearing sheets or may be adapted for rolling.
