Abstract

677,323. Vulcanizing rubber. SKIPSEY, A. Feb. 3, 1949 [Feb. 27, 1948], No. 5919/48. Class 70 Rubber is vulcanized by means of a mixture consisting of a sulphide of phosphorus especially the sesqui-sulphide P 4 S 3 , and an organic aluminium compound soluble in rubber. Preferred compounds are aluminium salts of organic acids such as stearic, oleic, palmitic, lauric, resinic, napthanic, phthalic and benzoic acids and the acid derived from shellac. The aluminium compound, which is preferably used in a proportion of about 6 parts to each 100 parts of rubber, may replace in part the oil vehicle used in the process of Specifications 230,637, [Class 70], and 403,480.
