Abstract

677,289. Separating solid particles from steam. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Jan. 19, 1951 [Feb. 3, 1950], No. 2842/50. Class 8 (ii) Solid particles are separated from stean traversing a duct 1 by projecting steam fron an accelerating nozzle 4 outside the downstrean steam duct 8 against a reflector plate 6 oppo site which is a channe 7 into which the particles rebound. The chan nel 7 is bounded by the inner surface of a tubu lar strainer 3 and the outer surface of a hol. low truncated cone or pyramid tapering towards the plate 6. In a modification the accelerating nozzle, strainer, catcher channel and reflector plate are located in a duct inclined obliquely downwards from a horizontal steam duct.
