[Also in Group XXVI] Feed, regulating.- An adjustable eccentric for producing the feed movement comprises inner and outer eccentric members 44, 43, one of these being non-rotatable on the shaft 25 while the other is resiliently pressed away from it axially against retaining means so that this other is frictionally connected to the first for normal operation, while permitting relative movement for adjustment; a detent is provided to hold the adjustable member so that adjustment can be effected by rotating the shaft and the first member. In the form shown the outer member 43 (on which the eccentric strap bears) has a flange 53 to locate it axially in a member 48 fixed to a disc 49 secured on the shaft, and is held against rotation on the shaft by a pin 56 on the disc 49 engaging a notch in a part-cylindrical extension 57 of the flange 53; the end of the inner member 44 is pressed against the disc 49 by a spring 46, a friction member 52 being interposed. A lug on the member 44 engages between the cut-away ends of the part 57 to limit the relative movement between the members 43, 44. A notch 58 is provided in the member 44 to receive a detent secured to a spring-biassed rock-shaft which is actuated by a push-rod extending outside the machine frame to lock this member when it is required to adjust the eccentric. The position of adjustment is indicated by markings on the member 48 or another member on the shaft 25, a window being provided in the machine bed at the appropriate place, or by markings on the handwheel of the machine. Feed-dogs.-The dog is horizontally adjustable on an angle member which is secured to the feed-bar by means providing for vertical adjustment. Lubricating.-Gears connecting the upper and lower shafts dip into oil in a sump at the base of the standard and create a mist of oil inside the frame. A plate arranged to catch some of this oil feeds it into an axial bore in the shaft 25, whence it passes through radial passages 85, 87, 88 to circumferential channels in the surfaces of the members 43, 44.
