676,793. Smallarms. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd., PERRY, C. A., and WACKROW, R. D. Sept. 25, 1950. [Sept. 24, 1949] No. 24581/49. Class 119. A firearm having a Martini action is formed with a chamber 11 of such length with relation to the ammunition used that when a cartridge is inserted by hand it protrudes from the breech; the cartridge being pushed into the chamber and the bullet being forced into engagement with the barrel rifling by means of a cam face 15 formed on the end of the breech-block 1. As an example the cartridge may protrude about three sixteenths of an inch when inserted into the chamber by hand.
