676,484. Regulating switches. VOORLAS, P. H. May 18, 1950. No. 12527/50. Class 38 (v). A rheostat comprises a resistance element 10 wound in a spiral groove 7 in a body member A, which carries fixed contacts 8 connected to the resistance and engageable by a contact arm 18, pivoted to member A at 9. The contacts 8 also anchor connection elements 16 having U-shaped parts 15 extending into the groove 7, one or more of the spirals of the resistance 10 being caught under hooks 1 formed on parts 15 whilst it is being wound on the member A. The depth of the groove 7 is varied so as to ensure equal increments of resistance between the contacts 8. One end of the resistance is connected to a terminal 22, and the contact arm 68 to a terminal 20.
