Abstract

An aqueous solution of methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose or ethylhydroxycellulose is used in insecticidal compositions for emulsifying one or more hydrogenated aromatic hydrocarbons or halogen derivatives thereof having a boiling-point not exceeding 210 DEG C., e.g. tetralin, decalin, monochlorobenzene, o- and p-dichlorobenzene. Other insecticides which may be added are D.D.T., gammahexachlorocyclohexane, azobenzene, copper soaps and organic ortho esters of thiophosphoric acid, e.g. parathion. In the examples, a 3 per cent aqueous solution of methyl cellulose is employed. Specification 613,928 is referred to.
