Abstract
676,026. Kiln cars. SWINNERTONS, Ltd., and BLOORE, R. B. Nov. 22, 1950 [Nov. 22, 1949], No. 29815/49. Class 51 (ii). In a kiln car for conveying earthenware or other goods through a kiln during the firing operation, having a superstructure which is generally similar to that disclosed in Specification 561,486, the pillar members c supporting a superstructure two bats in width are formed with a narrow neck c<SP>1</SP> towards the lower end and the rectangular bats a have recesses a<SP>1</SP> near their outer corners which lie along the sides of the superstructure and recesses a<SP>2</SP> across their inner corners, each recess fitting loosely round the pillar members when the bats rest on the ledges c<SP>4</SP> formed on said pillar members. This construction enables a damaged bat to be easily removed by lifting it out between the narrow necks of the pillars. Each end of the superstructure is formed with extension-pieces b having dovetail joints b<SP>2</SP> with the adjacent bats.
