Abstract
675,772. Cleaning eggs. SWIFTS OF SCARBOROUGH, Ltd. (Holt, A.). Aug. 17, 1949, No. 21372/49. Class 28 (ii). An egg or like cleaning machine comprises a plain or perforated rotary drum 11 open at one or both ends, and dipping into a liquid containing trough 14, the drum resting on driving rollers 18. The drum has rubber &c. covered ends 12 resting on the end rollers 18 to rotate the drum. The spindles 15 of these rollers also serve to connect the end plates 13 of the trough, the plates forming a stand for the machine. Fig. 6 shows the mounting of the rollers 18, one of which is driven from a hand or power rotated fibre roller 21 contacting a rubber covered pulley 19 on the spindle 15. The bearings of the spindles 15 comprise a flat rubber plate 16a with an integral bush extension 16 surrounding the brass bearing 17 to absorb vibration. A guard plate 29 covering the lower part of the opening 10a of the drum prevents the eggs from rolling out.
