Class 87(ii) The pressure board in a dough-moulding machine of the kind in which the dough is moulded between a board of variable width and a moving belt is provided with lateral members displaceable towards and away from each other and defining a moulding space which increases from the inlet to the outlet end. Dough from hopper 3, Fig. 2, is sheeted by rolls 4, 5, one of which is adjustable. Extensions 3a on the hopper 3 limit the width of the sheet. The dough is then coiled on a belt 13 by flaps 14, 15 and delivered by a guide member 45 on to the pressure board 17. The board 17 is in two overlapping portions 17a, 17b, Fig. 4, pivoted at 18 to a rigid leaf 19 which is carried by two angle irons 20, 21. Pivoted to the angle irons are pairs 22, 23 of parallel arms, the arms 22 being rotatably mounted on a bar 24 whilst arms 23 are fixed to a spindle 25 to which is also fixed a lever arm 26. The lever arm is movable to raise or lower the table by means of a screw-threaded rod 28. The lateral members 32a, 32b are attached at one end to fixed members 36 by hinges 35 and, at the other end, are mounted, by means of fixed nuts 37, on oppositely screwthread portions 38a, 38b of a rotatable rod whereby they may be moved towards and away from each other. The portions 17a, 17b of the pressure board carry, at their outer edges, downturned flanges 17c, 17d which are forced to bear against the lateral members, 32a, 32b by leaf springs 40, 41, Instead of pivoting together the portions 17a, 17b of the pressure board, both ends of these members may be made movable by screw-threaded rods such as 38, the two portions interengaging by means of pins and slots. Instead of moving both lateral members only one may be moved.
