Classes 59 and 86 In a process for milling a plastic composition upon a pair of milling rolls whereon the composition moves laterally from a feeding zone or zones to a stripping zone or zones, partition means fitted into and across the nip and associated with plough knife means, constrain the whole of the composition to pass at least once around the front roll. In Fig. 1, two portions C and D which fit into the nip and which along the nip. The width of the strip fed contour of the rolls, are placed between the feeding zone H and stripping knife G. Plough knives E and F are provided which contact the upper surface of the roll A to fed material from one side to the other side of each partition in the direction of flow of the material whilst the partitions prevent the flow of' untreated material along the rip. The width of. the strip fed across the partition corresponds to the distance K and may be adjusted by altering the relative position of the partition C and plough E which thus affords a means for regulating the rate of flow of materials along the rolls. The knives E and F, Fig. 1, are relatively narrow blades engaging along their length with the surface of the roll but an alternative form of knife is described with reference to Fig. 2, (not shown), comprising a broad blade contacting the roll at one end and lifted away from the roll at the other end to permit the partition C to lie beneath it. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4, the partition S is fitted into and across the nip between the rolls Q and R in a skew position so that the leading edge T functions as a plough knife. Additional plough knives may be provided to assist and regulate movement of the composition along the front roll.
