674,762. Resilient mountings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., TROBRIDGE, G. W.. SEDDON, R. M., and BRIERLEY, P. Sept. 13, 1949 [Sept. 25, 1948], No. 23558/49. Divided out of 652,909, [Group XXXIV]. Class 108(iii) [Also in Group XXXIV] Resilient mountings comprises relatively displaceable rigid members operatively connected through a resilient vulcanized rubber element or a viscous rubber composition. As shown in Fig. 4, the mounted member comprises plates 17 connected by a bolt 20 and tube 21 to clamp the supporting member 16 between annular vulcanized rubber elements 18, and a mass 19 of vulcanized rubber composition. The degree of compression of the rubber elements may be adjusted by a screw 22. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 2, (not shown), the plates 16, 17 are disposed horizontally. The rubber of the elements 18 and composition 19 may be a natural or synthetic rubber, e.g. a co-polymer of butadiene with styrene or iso-butylene, or an oil-resistant rubber, e.g. a butadiene-acrylo nitrile copolymer. The composition preferably contains smoked sheet rubber, Stockholm tar softener and softeners in the form of polytrimethyl dihydroquinolines. The invention is also applicable to resilient-wheel construction (see Group XXXIV).
