Abstract

673,804. Regulating switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET Dec. 11, 1950. No. 30211/50. Class 38 (v). [Also in Group XXXV] In an on-load tapchanging switch for transformers each movable contact is driven from a continuously rotating shaft 2 by a toothed wheel train consisting of at least three non- circular (e.g. elliptical) toothed wheels. The figure shows two contacts 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP> which move step-wise over the tap contacts 141, 14<SP>1 </SP>... 14<SP>2</SP> and 151, 15<SP>2</SP> ...159 to connect varying portions of the regulating winding 10 in series with the main winding 9. The contacts move alternately a resistance 13 being included when the circuit from 12 to 9 is through the contact 8<SP>11</SP>. The contacts 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP> are mechanically connected to nuts 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP> which move up and down screwed shafts 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> each driven from the shaft 2 through three intermediate elliptical wheels such as 3, 4<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP>, the arrangement producing the necessary pauses at the tap contacts. Other non-circular gear wheels 25, 26, 27 cause the movement of a contact 18 from 19 to 20 at approximately the middle of the movement of the nuts 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP>, so that further movement of the nuts 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP> reintroduces the regulatory winding 10 section by section but in the reverse direction.
