Abstract
Aluminium oxide, suitable for use as a rubber filler, is obtained by calcining aluminium sulphate or ammonium aluminium sulphate below 1000 DEG C, preferably at 900 DEG C, in a stream of preferably moist air in a rotary tube muffle furnace to such an extent that the product still contains 1-5 per cent of sulphur trioxide. The product is suitable as a rubber filler.
