Abstract

The invention comprises a bismuth salt of di-n-propylacetic acid having a melting-point of about 75-80 DEG C. and soluble in vegetable oils. In the example bismuth trioxide is heated with di-n-propylacetic acid and water is added. The mixture is further heated, mixed with petroleum ether and filtered and the product obtained on concentrating is recrystallized from anhydrous methanol. The compound is useful in the treatment of nondiphthereitic throat-infections (see Group VI).
