672,299. Frequency measurements; variable condensers. COMPAGNIE DES FREINS ET SIGNAUX WESTINGHOUSE. Nov. 21, 1949 [Dec. 4, 1948], No. 29681/49. Class 37. A wavemeter comprises a cavity resonator 1 tuned by a condenser consisting of a fixed plate 4 and a rotatable plate 5, both plates being stepped at 13, 14 so that the capacitance varies on relative rotation. Preferably the plate 5 is formed at the end of a rod 6 which is enclosed by a sleeve 24 whose position is axially adjustable by rotation of member 26 so as to vary the volume of the resonator. Scales are provided for the knob 7 rotating rod 5, and for the member 26. The cavity 1 is fed from a coaxial socket 15, and the output is taken by a detector 16 feeding a capacitance 18, 21 connected to an output coaxial socket 23.
