Abstract

672,238. Washing-machines. HOVDEN, H. Nov. 1, 1948 [Nov. 3, 1947], No. 28336/48. Class 138 (ii). In a washing machine of the vibratory type one or more plate screens 9 are arranged above the vibrators, the plate screens having inclined passages 11 for the gradual transport of cleansing liquid in a desired direction during successive vibratory strokes. The vibrator comprises a diaphragm 7 connected by an arm 6 to an oblique sleeve 5 mounted on the shaft 4 of a motor 3. During the vibrating motion liquid is forced between the plates 10 in the direction of the arrow x. A grating 14 is provided at one end of the space between the screen 9 and diaphragm 7. A round container 1 is shown, but a channel-shaped container may be used, the clothes being transported from one end of the channel to the other.
