Class 46 [Also in Group XIII] A candle filter body for the heating and filtering of an artificial-filament spinning-solution immediately before its extrusion through a spinning jet comprises a chamber 35 enclosing a filter plug 42 normally covered with a layer of filtering material (not shown), and a jacket, formed of an outer cylinder 11 and inner cylinder 23, not in communication with the chamber 35. The jacket and chamber enclose between them an annular space 39 into the upper end of which spinning-solution enters at 49 and from the lower end of which the solution passes into the filter chamber 35 through a plurality of holes 40,. emerging at 51 after filtration. Heating medium enters the jacket space 26 at 27, passes downwards under the lower edges of two diametrically opposite partitions 29, then upwards and out at 28. Lagging 15 is provided.
