Abstract

669,676. Pressure-relief valves. AKTIEBOLAGETTELEPAR. Nov. 16, 1949 [Nov. 16, 1948], No. 29329/49. Class 135. A pressure-relieving device for a hydraulic system comprises a hollow, piston-type, valve 23 urged to the neutral position closing the passage interconnecting the two pressure lines 11, 12 by two opposing springs 14, 15, the spring 14 being housed in the valve, the skirt of which seals off the interior from the line 12 under all working conditions, and the other spring bearing on the opposite, exterior, face of the valve; and the valve is movable in either direction to relieve excess pressure in either line. The device can be applied to a pumping system wherein lines 11, 12 are connected, respectively, to the outlet and inlet lines of the pump. The springs abut at their inner ends against washers 18, 19 seating normally on a collar 25 on a screwed stem 17 by which the loading exerted by spring 14 can be varied. Passages 27 through the closure member ensure that the pressure in line 11 acts also on the underside of the closure member.
