A device for handling vehicles with four or more wheels includes two substantially rectangular frames each comprising a pair of longitudinal members, of a length corresponding to the width of the vehicle to be handled, connected at their ends to a sling and secured in parallel spaced relation by a pair of transverse members at or near each end. The spacing of the longitudinal members corresponds to the normal diameter of the vehicle wheels, but the space between these members may be varied by means mounted to be rotatable into supported position on the ends of the longitudinal members. Fig. 1 shows a single frame comprising metal tubes 1, 11 joined by threaded elbow joints 2 and adapted to support a pair of wheels of a vehicle as shown in Fig. 5. Wedge-shaped metal members 14 are pivoted by sleeves 13 to the tubes 1 to form ramps to assist in placing the vehicle on the frames : when turned inwardly as indicated in Fig. 1 these members are supported on the tubes 11, 12 by their laterally projecting portions and they then enable the frame to support wheels of a smaller size. Stops on the tubes 1 limit the downward swinging movement of the members 14. The frames are provided with shackles 4 or with eyes to engage ropes 6 by which they are supported'as shown in Fig. 5. Spreaders 7, 8 are provided for the ropes which pass through holes in the spreaders 7 and through V-shaped notches in the ends of the spreaders 8. The frames for supporting the two pairs of wheels of an automobile may be connected by telescoping tubes.
