Abstract
669,256. Batteries. DOW CHEMICAL CO. Aug. 15, 1950 [Dec. 22, 1949], No. 20284/50. Class 53. A primary cell comprises a container 1 made of magnesium or a magnesium alloy constituting the anode, and a carbon rod 4 surrounded by a mixture 3 of manganese dioxide and carbon moistened with electrolyte. The latter consists of a solution of a bromide of an alkali or alkaline earth metal or ammonium and may contain a chromate or bichromate. No separator is used between the mix 3 and anode 1 which are in direct contact with one another. The rod 4 is separated from the container by an insulating washer 5.
