Abstract

748,065. Batteries. DOW CHEMICAL CO. July 14, 1954, No. 20606/54. Class 53. A primary cell having a magnesium anode, a carbon cathode and an electrolyte consisting of a solution of a bromide of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium is provided with a depolarizer consisting of a mixture of manganese dioxide, carbon and finely divided aluminium, bismuth, cobalt, nickel, copper, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, tin or zinc. An insoluble chromate may also be mixed with the depolarizer and a soluble chromate may be dissolved in the electrolyte. Specifications 659,367, 659,368 and 677,416 are referred to.
