Abstract

669,010. Pneumatic tyres. HAWKINSON CO., P. E. June 16, 1950 [Nov. 16, 1949], No. 15149/50. Class 144(ii). A tyre tread having end-on wire teeth presented to the road surface is produced by securing to the worn tread-surface 2 of the tyre 1 a vulcanized rubber band 3 formed with ribs 3a having embedded endless wire coils 4, Fig. 1, and then abrading the rubber and coils. As shown, the wire coils are first assembled with a thickness 6 just proud of the ribs which, after abrasion, is removed to produce separate wire teeth 9, Fig. 3.
