Abstract
668,850. Laevulose; medicinal preparations. ABBEY, A. (Coffarom Akt.-Ges.). March 2, 1949, No. 5741/49. Classes 81 (i) and 127. Lµvulose solutions suitable for intravenous injection are prepared by hydrolysing inulin in aqueous solution under pressure and/or in the presence of acids; the inulin being purified to a pharmaceutical purity, e.g. by repeated recrystallisation and precipitation by organic precipitants such as alcohol, the pharmaceutically pure inulin being hydrolysed, and the resulting lµvulose-containing solution being sterilized, if desired decolourised and filtered, and filled into ampoules. The acids employed may be lactic, gluconic, ketogulonic, or ascorbic acids, and may be subsequently neutralised with sodium or calcium hydroxide. Or a volatile organic acid such as formic acid, or carbon dioxide under pressure, may be used and subsequently removed. Medicines such as k-strophanthin, caffeine citrate or glucosides may be added to the solution before sterilization. Specifications 272,876 and 8898/05, [both in, Class 127], are referred to.
