Abstract

Stabilisation of pollen extracts contng. reducing sugars (C5-C6) and amino acids produced by hydrolysis of aqueous pollen extracts, characterised by freeze-drying the hydrolysed extract. The product is used in daily doses of 100-800 mg. in tonics, antiinflammatory drugs etc. or by local application e.g. as ointments contng. 3% of stable extract. The glutamic acid equivalent of a normal extract fell from about 7.6 to 3.1 at room temp. and 1.9 at 37 degrees C. after 6 months. There was no significant change in the value of treated extracts similarly stored.
