Abstract

An adhesive composition for applying to carpets &c. along a line to be cut (see Group VIII), comprises an aqueous emulsion of polyvinyl acetate containing 33 1/3 per cent polyvinyl acetate, a plasticizer, e.g. tricresyl phosphate and dibutylphthalate, glacial acetic acid, and a wetting agent, e.g. "Calsolene" (Registered Trade Mark) oil HS and soap, giving a pH of 3 to 4. An aqueous neoprene emulsion, applied after the adhesive composition, coagulates on interaction with the latter to leave a flexible or resilient binding medium for the cut edge.
