[Also in Group XVII] A protective sleeve for a wooden mast comprises a sheet of flexible material, such as polyvinyl chloride, to which a coating of watersoluble salt paste or oleaginous salt paste wood - impregnating agents is applied leaving uncoated marginal areas. In use the sleeve is unfolded and applied to a mast 14, as shown in Fig. 5, the paste adhering to the mast and the margin 5 overlapping the opposite edge 6 of the sheet 1.
