Abstract

666,950. Surgical appliances. SLUIJTER, H. Jan. 17, 1950 [Jan. 17, 1949], No. 1161/50. Class 81 (ii). A substantially ring shaped elastic member 1 is formed with a thickened portion 2 such that on insertion of the appliance into the vagina the portion 2 closes the urethra. The member is held against the walls of the vagina by the resilient action of a spring steel strip 3 forming the core of the member, any tendency of the strip 3 to cut into the material of the member which may be rubber or the like, being prevented by enclosing the strip within a helical spring 4.
