Abstract
A polyolefin is stabilized with a nickel salt of a hydroxyamic acid which salt has the formula: <FORM:0965054/C3/1> wherein R and R1 are H or hydrocarbon, at least one being hydrocarbon. The preferred Ni salt is that of a mixture of octadecano hydroxamic acid and hexadecano-hydroxamic acid and desirably a phenolic compound also is present and many suitable polyalkylphenols, bisphenols, chromans and terpene adducts are specified. Other optional ingredients are lauryl thiodipropionate, dialkyldisulphides, zinc dialkyldithiocarbamates, zinc dialkyldithiophosphates and calcium soaps.
