666,948. Slicing machines. LUNDELL, A. W. Jan. 16, 1950 [Jan. 21, 1949], No. 1117/50. Class 28 (ii). The adjustment of the slice thickness gauge plate 6 of a slicing machine by means of a hand rotated knob 10 is also used to free a circuitbreaking switch 22 whereby the motor driving the knife 4 is started. When the gauge plate 6 is moved above the knife 4 and so out of slicing position the micro switch 22 is actuated by a finger 20 into circuit breaking position to stop the motor driving the knife 4. This position allows the knife 4 to be wiped clean by hand with safety. Rotation of the knob 10 causes the wiper 12 to rotate a shaft 14 which carries arms 15 and 19, the arm 15 actuating the gauge plate carrier 18 and the arm 19 actuating the circuit breaking switch 22. Adjustment of the position at which the motor stops and to determine the position of the gauge plate for cleaning is provided by a projection 32 adjustedly fixed to the dial 29 and engageable by a lever stop 31 which is projected towards the dial when a pin 43 is pushed in. This arrangement prevents rotation of the dial beyond a fixed setting and provides the cut out of the motor just when the gauge plate 6 is slightly above the knife 4 so allowing the knife to be wiped clean with safety. This arrangement can be put out of action by pressing in the other button 42.
