Abstract

664,439. Valves. WARD & CO., Ltd., H. W., and HOOSON, G. C. Feb. 10, 1950 [Feb. 14, 1949], No. 3951/49. Class 135. A combined pressure-reducing and control valve for alternately actuating a bar stock feeding mechanism and a lathe chuck comprises a pair of independently operative diaphragm - actuated, pressure - reducing valves m, Fig. 1, housed in parallel bores in body a and supplied through branch passages c, Fig. 2, from a common inlet b with compressed air. The air in the passages may be reduced to the same or different pressures and delivered through passages e to arcuate grooves x, t in a manuallyoperable, rotary plug cock r, having outlet connections w, v to the lathe chuck and an outlet connection y to the feeding mechanism. In one position of the plug r, air is passed to release the chuck and operate the feeding mechanism, whilst in another position the chuck is operated and the feeding mechanism returned to its original position.
