Abstract

664,193. Dark-room lamps. ILFORD, Ltd. Feb. 23, 1950 [Feb. 26, 1949], No. 5280/49. Class 75(iv) A photographic dark-room lamp comprises a sheet or block of glass or transparent synthetic plastic material 5 mounted to present an edge or end surface to an electric bulb 2 so that light enters the glass therethrough and emerges from a side surface, a filter 4 being included so that the light emerging is light to which photographic materials are insensitive. The sheet is held between flanges 6 on the elongated tubular metal housing 1. The emitting side of the sheet is matted or scored with lines 7, the intensity of the matting or the frequency and depth of the lines increasing with the distance from the bulb; the other side of the sheet is polished. The filter may be on the outer surface of the sheet or within the substance of the sheet. The glass sheet may be curved; it may be mounted vertically above a base containing a bulb; it may comprise a flat disc with a central opening for the bulb.
