Abstract
664,111. Trimming-machines for uppers of lasted shoes. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and PRATT, J. W. July 10, 1950 [July 9, 1949], No. 18212/49. Class 17 (i). A member comprising a disc 26 at the lower end of a spindle 28 is freely rotatable in a bearing in a bracket 30 attached by a screw to the lower portion of an adjustable guide finger 10. This finger 10 has one face arranged in shearing relation to a rotary cutter 2 for trimming the margin of a lasted upper, and another face to engage an insole on a last, between which and the upper it is guided in feeding the work. The disc 26 has rounded upper and lower faces and is mounted in advance of the lower portion of the finger 10 in the direction in which work will be fed past the cutter, to facilitate feed movement of the work. It is adjustable heightwise relatively to the cutter 2 by a nut 14 and a guard 4 also is adjustable relatively to the cutter 2 by a nut 18. The device may be combined on a single base with a machine of the kind described in Specification 602,707.
