662,925. Spring upholstery. DEHN, S. G. (Burton-Dixie Corporation). Dec. 13, 1949. No. 32006/49. Class 52 (iv). [Also in Group XXXII] In a coiled spring 1 having end convolutions 2 and intermediate windings 5 of smaller diameter than the end convolutions, the latter are provided with integrally formed, spaced, radially and inwardly extending projections 4 of such length as to project inwardly of the smallest intermediate windings. The projections 4 function as stops to prevent the smaller-diameter convolutions of the spring from being forced through the end convolutions under load. Each spring is secured to its neighbour by means of helical wire 6 which is also used to secure the springs to the outer frame 9 of the mattress. Specification 499,435 is referred to.
