Abstract
662,273. Wire terminals. AIRCRAFTMARINE PRODUCTS, Inc. June 9, 1949 [Sept. 1, 1948], No. 15356/49. [Class 38 (i). In order that kinds and sizes of cable connectors can be utilized in a single terminalapplying machine of the kind described in Specification 601,068, [Group XXII], the connectors are tied together in a strip, each connector comprising a wire-receiving portion 15 joined by an intermediate portion 20 to a contact portion 17, the tying links 22, 22<SP>1</SP> extending close to the portion 17 from the portion 20, being of identical size and having identical transverse cut-off lines 24, 25, 26, 27. The connectors can be of different sizes or shapes including those described in Specification 656,029, and have different kinds of ferrules, Figs. 3, 5, 6, 9 (not shown) and the tying-links may be wide or narrow, Fig. 1 or Fig. 8, but they are weaker than the connectors in order to protect the latter from accidental deformation. In a modification, Fig. 11, the contact-making portion is a second wire-receiving portion 17f, the connectors being provided also with insulation support portions 30. A strip also may have a connector of one kind adjacent and on the opposite side to a connector of another kind. The strips are fed into a machine fitted with dies which sever each connector and crimp the wire-receiving portions on to the cable, preferably by the method described in Specification 650,098.
