A lighting fixture comprises an elongated base 2 carrying a light source, an enclosure having a longitudinal opening below the light source and extending substantially the full length of the fixture, and glarereducing means, e.g., a panel 11 detachably supported in said opening by spaced pins 16, 17 projecting inwardly from end members 3 of the base 2, two pins 16 being releasably held by latches 18 in upwardly open slots 14 in vertical end flanges 13a of a panel frame 12, and two pins 17 being received in downwardly open, e.g., inverted L-shaped, slots 15 in said flanges. Straps 4 secured to the base plate 2 carry a reflector 5 and fluorescent lamp sockets 6. Side panels 8, of translucent plastic or other glare-controlling material, are supported by side frames 9, the latter having inwardly curved lower ends 9a, 9b, between which the translucent glass plate 11 mounted in the frame 12 is fitted. The frame comprises two angle-iron end members 13 and two channel-shaped side members 12a, 12b, angle-iron member 12c secured in the latter serving to position the plate 11. Each spring-urged latch 18 has an extension 24 accessible from below the panel 11 for releasing the panel assembly to allow it to pivot to the open position about the pins 17 during which movement the pins 17 travel to the innermost end of the slots 15. To remove the panel assembly entirely it is swung to the vertical position, then raised, then moved to the left, to free the pins 17 from the L-shaped slots 15.
