Abstract
Arsines of the general formula <FORM:0661284/IV (b)/1> wherein R represents a methylene or an o-phenylene radical, are prepared by heating carbasone oxide with thiosalicylic acid or thioglycollic acid in aqueous alkaline solution and acidifying the reaction mixture. The reactants may be employed in the ratio of about 1 mol. of carbasone oxide and 2 mols. of the required acid. The aqueous solution may be an aqueous solution of a metal hydroxide, a metal carbonate or a metal bicarbonate. Strong organic or mineral acids can be used to acidify the reaction mixture. Salts of the arsine are prepared by treating the arsine with an equivalent amount of an alkali and the sodium, potassium, calcium, ammonium and substituted ammonium salts are mentioned. Two examples are given.
