661,276. Number plates. GARLE, K. J. March 21, 1949 [May 13, 1948]. No. 13183/48. Class 3(ii) [Also in Group XXV] A symbol 2 is attached to a backing plate 1 by means of a rearwardly projecting stud 3 which projects through a perforation in the plate and is secured by an annular locking washer 4 having a plurality of inwardly extending teeth 7 which engage a spacing element 5 between the washer and the backing plate so that when axial pressure is applied to the periphery of the washer to force it towards the plate the teeth are forced into engagement with the stud. The spacing element may be a separate collar or be made integral with the backing plate or the washer. Specification 661,354 is referred to.
