Abstract

660,882. Control of D.C. motors. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Jan. 5 1949. [Jan. 10, 1948]. No. 289/49. Class 38 (iii). A reversible motor has its field winding F connected in series with its armature A for power operation, a condenser C being connected across the armature to be charged during this period. For dynamic braking, the winding: F is energised from an exciter E which may be driven by the motor and have its field winding f connected across the armature A. When the armature voltage of the motor falls to a predetermined value during braking operation a relay VR is actuated to close contacts IVR, and the condenser discharges through the field. winding f so providing additional excitation for the motor and increased braking-action. Rectifiers R1, R2, prevent the condenser from discharging through the motor armature during the braking-period, these rectifiers being excluded from circuit selectively according to the direction of the motor operation. The power and dynamic braking connections for the motor are effected by electromagnetic contactors under the control of a master switch. Specification 654,375 is referred to.
