660,869. Cores for dynamo-electric machines. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. June 10, 1949 [July 17, 1948], No. 15469/49. Class 35. The stator or rotor core, e.g. of a series motor, has its slots 12 disposed in pairs in " back-toback " relationship separated by a parallelsided interpole 14, the slots 12 being formed of straight portions 15 opening wide to the airgap and of enlarged portions 16. The poles 13 carry the main field winding 5 1 formed of eight half-turns 21 1 to 21 8 making up a fourturn coil 5 1 , the active sides 22 of which are accommodated in the slot portions 16. The half-turn corresponding ends of the coil 5 1 are so formed as to register with each other to be brazed. The commutating coils on the pole 14 and the main field coils 5 1 alternate with each other and are so disposed as not to overlap each other.
