Abstract
660,018. Floor polishing pad. LINDEROTH, E. T. Oct. 6, 1948 [Oct. 20, 1947], No. 26063/48. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 7, 1949.] Class 19 A floor polishing apparatus comprises a dish-like member of elastic material, the thickness of the material decreasing towards the outer edges of the member, said member being open on the side thereof intended to be adjacent the floor during polishing and said member serving for pressing towards the floor a polishing cloth covering said side which is open, there being a handle which is pivotally secured to said member at the side thereof opposite the open side and said member having an automatically operating valve which opens when the member is pushed down against the floor, such opening being effected by the pressure inside said member becoming greater than the pressure outside the member and said valve closing when the pressure inside the member becomes less than the pressure outside said member. In the Figure a handle 4 is pivoted to the centre of a dish-like casing 1 of soft rubber or other elastic material forming a suction foot by means of a holder consisting of a top part 5 and a bottom part 6 (not shown) connected by a screw 7. Four holes 2 on the upper side of the suction foot are covered by thin rubber leaves 3, which operate as a non-return valve opening for an above-atmospheric pressure produced when the implement is pushed away from the operator and closing for sub-atmospheric pressure in the suction foot when the implement is drawn towards the operator when the pressure on the floor is increased due to the vacuum in the suction foot. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises the apparatus for wiping and polishing smooth surfaces generally with optional use of the polishing cloth. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
