Abstract
659,606. Furnace recuperators. LAMBOT & CO., Ltd., M., and LAMBOT, V. M. Sept. 20, 1949, No. 24106. [Class 64(i)] A tubular block 1, Fig. 4, for furnace recuperators is of rectangular cross-section with flat top and bottom faces and has at each end of each side face two vertical flanges 2, 3 spaced by a vertical groove 4, the side surfaces of the block between the innermost flanges 3 being plain, without projecting parts. The flanges 4 are flush with the ends of the block. A recuperator comprises a series of superimposed horizontal courses of tubular conduits each comprising a plurality of blocks 1 placed end to end, the blocks in the same course having their ends aligned transversely, as shown in Fig. 2. Vertical keying members 6 of H-section cover the vertical joints between abutting blocks, the flanges 7 of the keying members closely fitting the grooves 4 in the tubular blocks. The horizontal joints are covered by distance pieces separating the courses. Short tubular end pieces 11 are keyed to the main blocks by keying members 6. The tubular conduits are staggered laterally from course to course. Non-tubular blocks 13, 17 and .tubular blocks 15, 18 at the sides of the rows are formed with flanges 14, 16 and grooves on one side only. Specification 494,553 is referred to.
