659,594. Ventilating. RUNEFELT, V. E. A. Aug. 4, 1949, No. 20350. [Class 137] [Also in Group XXIX] Ventilation of halls, cinemas and the like provided with tip-up seats is controlled by means of rotary valves formed by hollow seat pivots 6 and journal sleeves 7 having cut out portions 9, 10 respectively that coincide when the seat is lowered. As shown, opening of the valve allows the passage of air between chair leg passages 3 which communicate with an air duct 4, e.g. in the floor, and an air channel 5 that extends across the seat and is open to the atmosphere through a perforated disc 8. Alternatively ventilation may be effected through the back of the chair.
