Abstract

396,287. Ventilating-apparatus. HINDMARSH, E. H., 10, Rose Lane, Tanjong Katong Road, and MOREY, J. J., 98, Robinson Road, both in Singapore. Jan. 2, 1933, No. 95. [Class 137.] An apparatus for distributing ventilating-air individually to persons in rooms or theatres comprises concentric tubes A, B supplied with air through a conduit M, the inner tube having at each end apertures L for directing the air in a downward direction, and the outer tube having an aperture C. The aperture C of the outer tube, when directed upwardly, is closed by the wall of the inner tube, but when directed towards the user registers with an opening in the inner tube and admits air. The movement of the outer tube to the operative position closes by a spindle E valves G adjacent the apertures L, which valves are in the open position when the aperture of the outer tube is in the vertical position. Within this outer tube is provided a slotted bridge piece D through which passes the spindle E, and which is rotated by movement of the outer tube.
