Abstract

An adhesive bandage comprises a transparent synthetic plastic strip, preferably incorporating thermoplastic terpene resin, which is pressure sensitive on one side, this side carrying a medicated pad and being protected by a sheet of metallic foil. Details are given of the composition of a suitable material for the film which is naturally pressure sensitive and this is rendered non-tacky on the rear face by a coating of silica, while the front face carries a medicated cotton pad for application to the skin. The whole of this face is protected by aluminized paper, the metal surface being in contact with the adhesive face of the film. In a modification a rectangular sheet of the prepared film is partially divided by parallel lines to produce strips which remain joined over a short length at each end but which are readily separable for use.
