657,554. Voice-frequency signalling. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 23, 1948, No. 2139. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1947. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL (c)] In a receiving circuit for carrier modulated pulses, a valve feeds a relay and a circuit tuned to the carrier frequency, which is coupled to two circuits giving outputs having a phase difference of 90 degrees, these outputs being rectified, combined to remove the second harmonic of the carrier, and fed back to the valve grid to operate the relay. As shown, dialling pulses 1, modulated on an audio-frequency carrier, are applied from terminals 2 to the grid of a valve 4, whose anode circuit includes relay 5 and a tuned circuit 9, 10. The secondary coils 12, 13 coupled thereto are connected through circuits 14, 15 and 16, 17 which respectively advance and retard the carrier phase by 45 degrees to full-wave rectifier circuits 21, 22, the combined outputs of which are smoothed by condenser 30. The resultant positive D.C. pulses 32 are fed over conductor 31 to the grid of valve 4 to operate relay 5.
