Abstract
620,585. Radio-receiving circuits; pulse amplifying circuits. PHILCO PRODUCTS, Inc. March 14, 1946, No. 7981. Convention date, March 14, 1945. [Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vi)] [Also in Group XL (b)] In a television receiver the separated synchronizing pulses are applied to a circuit resonant at the pulse frequency, by means of which the synchronizing pulse separator valve is gated in synchronism in order to prevent interference by transient electrical disturbances. Negatively modulated signals are applied to the grid 13 of the separator valve 10, which is self-biassed by means of a resistance 18 and condenser 17. Synchronizing pulses are taken off from the anode circuit, comprising the resistance 19 and an L.C. circuit 20, 22 resonant at the synchronizing frequency. The inductance 20 is centre-tapped, the sinusoidal wave appearing at the terminal 24 being applied over a condenser 25 and resistance 26 to an inner grid 16 of the valve 10 so as to render it non-conductive for the duration of the interval between successive synchronizing impulses. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 3, not shown), the gating wave is applied instead to the grid of a separate valve connected in series with the cathode lead of the valve 10.
