Abstract
656,114. Pulse generating circuits; pulsing carrier frequencies. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Dec. 1, 1948, No. 31154. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1947. [Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vi)] In a circuit for charging an element such as a capacitor or crystal, an oscillator is keyed in response to control pulses and the output of the oscillator is rectified and used to charge the element. The Figure shows a circuit for generating high voltage pulses across a crystal 36 from low voltage control pulses applied at the input to capacitor 12. The input pulse is differentiated by network 11, 12, the first negative-going peak of the differentiated waveform cutting off the normally conducting valve 10, the anode potential of which rises and renders the oscillator valve 23 conductive. The oscillator thus generates a burst of sine waves which are rectified by rectifier 31 and the crystal 36 is charged to a positive D.C. potential. On the occurrence of the positive-going peak of the differentiated input waveform valve 10 is rendered conducting, thus cutting off the oscillator valve 23 and simultaneously the normally conducting valve 41 is cut-off. The rise in the anode potential of valve 41 renders the normally non-conductive valve 51 conductive and crystal 36 is discharged through this valve.
