[Class 38(v)] [Also in Groups VI and XIII] The wave shaped bimetal strip 210 on sufficient heating up snaps away from the stop 224a, Fig. 12, to strike a pin 257 thereby moving the attached contact 173 away from 174 to open the circuit. The bimetal 210 is adjusted for length between its top and bottom fixings by a screw 213. Colour control of toast being made is arranged by a hand-lever 38 which moves the stop 224a in relation to the midposition of the bimetal 210. If it is further away the bimetal must assume a more bent position before it snaps over to cut off the heating, thus giving darker toast. Toasting also may be manually terminated by thumb pressure on a plunger 42, Fig. 5 (not shown), which moves the stop 224a against the bimetal 210 thereby causing 210 to snap over at once against the pin 257 and move it to open the switch 172.
